Columbia, Mo. (May 7, 2010) – The Moog School for deaf children announced today a $35,000 push to raise money before June 30th, the deadline to receive a grant for a one-for-one match from the Oberkotter Foundation.
The Moog School is an independent, not-for-profit school that provides educational services to children with hearing loss birth to early elementary years and their families. The goal of the Moog School is to make it possible for more children with hearing loss to talk and experience success in their lives both in school and in the world at large. Currently, thirty-one deaf children from across Mid-Missouri are enrolled at the school and are receiving education designed to teach them to talk and mainstream into society with the use of cochlear implants.
In an effort to help bring attention to the cause and to generate greater community awareness for the Moog School, True Media president and owner Jack Miller has donated 10 tickets to his company’s private client party next Thursday night where Grammy award winning artist Rosanne Cash will perform. The Moog School, in cooperation with the Zimmer Radio Group, will raffle the 10 tickets through next Wednesday with all proceeds going to the school.
“We are very grateful for the ticket donation for a variety of reasons,” said Judy Harper director of the Columbia school. “Having tickets to an exclusive event that can’t be purchased or acquired anywhere else certainly makes this offering very appealing. It has also allowed us to get the attention of the media and to have promotional support for our greater fund-raising effort that we might not have otherwise received.”
True Media, an advertising agency with headquarters in Columbia, Mo., hosts the private party for their customers and selected members of the media annually. Past events have included headlining performances by Chuck Berry, the Gin Blossoms, and other notable celebrities. Rosanne Cash, this year’s performer and daughter of country music legend Johnny Cash, has twenty-one Top 40 country singles, a Grammy, and a newly released album titled The List.
Raffle tickets can be purchased by going to www.clear99.com before noon next Wednesday.
